On the previous page, I listed prime grinding spots for levels up to 40. One important thing to maximize your gold returns for grinding is to pick up skinning as a profession. Being able to skin your mobs and sell at the auction house will net you a lot of gold in the long run.
This WOW Grinding Spots page lists favorite grinding areas for levels 40 - 80.

Quests give a ton of experience in Northrend, so it beats grinding in almost all cases. Consider getting one of the Top in-game WOW guides and you will breeze through the quests at breakneck speed.
The other option is Instance grinding. If you are not part of a regular group, finding groups for instance could be a possible bottleneck depending on your server. My recommendation for most people is therefore to quest through levels 70 - 80.
