Paladin Talent Guide
A Paladin has several talent building options, depending on what the character's focus is. Because redoing talents can cost you some serious gold, it's important to get the build right from the beginning. In this Paladin Talent Guide I will cover the major talent builds for paladins and make some recommendations on where to best spend your talent points.
The best way to manage your talents is to pick a role for your Paladin, and spend your points accordingly. Usually, picking a role will also mean that you will be specializing in one of the trees, with a few points spent on a secondary tree.
For Paladins, there are 3 general talent builds you can pursue. The Holy Paladin is a specialist in healing. Protection is for Paladin tanks, and Retribution is good for Paladins who want to take down mobs quickly.
Holy Paladin
Regardless of which Paladin build you pursue, it's often a good idea to throw in a few points into the Holy tree. On the other hand, if your Paladin's main focus is on healing, you will need to devote a majority of your points to this tree.
Must Have Holy Talents:
- Illumination. This skill will greatly improve your mana efficiency and is one skill you should not do without.
Must Have PVE Holy Talents:
- Spiritual Focus
- Divine Intellect
- Healing Light
- Sanctified Light
- Holy Power
- Light's Grace
- Holy Guidance
- Divine Illumination
- Judgements of the Pure
- Beacon of Light
Must Have PVP Holy Talents:
- Spiritual Focus
- Unyielding Faith
- Pure of Heart
- Holy Shock
- Blessed Life
As you progress to higher levels, most paladins branch off to include protection or retribution talents.
If you're focus is on healing, then you'll want protection talents such as Blessing of Kings and Devotion Aura for the extra healing and armor they provide.
For those who move into the Retribution tree, Judgement of the Wise is a popular choice for generating major mana regeneration.
Protection Paladin
The protection tree is used heavily by Paladin Tanks, or Tankadins as they are sometimes called.
Must Have Tankadin Talents:
- Divine Strength
- Anticipation
- Toughness
- Blessing of Kings
- Improved Devotion Aura
- Deflection (from the Retribution Tree)
Divine Sacrifice, Divine Guardian, Improved Hammer of Justice, and Reckoning are some great places to put in points as you progress through higher levels.
Retribution Paladin
And finally, we have the popular retribution build for Paladins. This build if for people who want the to do the maximum amount of damange possible. If you specialize in this tree you will have to sacrifice defense and healing in exchange for the massive amounts of damage you will do.Must Have Retribution Talents:
