Gold Farming Guide
This gold farming guide will provide a quick list of some of the best spots to farm for gold, depending on character level.
Some people believe gold farming is to be done once a character attains the maximum level, however, I do not agree with this. While it's true that the highest level players get the most bang for the buck gold farming, oftentimes low-level players will run out of gold, and find that they must find a way to make more money to upgrade their gear. Especially in cases when the character in question has chosen professions that do not pay out well at first, finding some decent gold farming locations can be a great way to earn some extra gold quickly.
So without further ado, here are some top gold farming areas.
Lower Levels (12 +)
Westfall
Coordinates: Around 32, 33
Target the Defias Trappers for linen cloth, which can often be sold for 1g or more per stack. They will respawn just as fast as you kill them.Mining, Skinning, Herbalism
These professions will make you the most money while you are a low level character. You might want to start out with at least one of these professions, then once you are high enough to do more effective gold farming, drop them in favor for professions that make sense for your class.Once you are level 12 or higher, ride around Elwynn forest, mining and gathering herbs. After an hour, you should have collected enough stuff to sell them at auction and make some good money.
Medium Levels (40 - 60)
Stranglethorn Vale
Coordinates: Around 44, 45
Head to the Crystalvein mines. Drops are not quality items you would use, but they can be sold for decent money at vendors or the auction house.Tanaris
Coordinates: Around 72, 44
There is an area on the eastern shore full of pirates. Go through a cave to get to Lost Rigger Cove, and kill the pirates there for mageweave and silk.
Higher Levels (60 – 80)
Un’Goro Crater (skinners only)
Ride around looking for Devilsaurs, skin them for Devilsaur leather which sells for a lot of gold in auction houses.Winterspring
Coordinates: Around 53, 43
Kill the mobs near the lake for item drops and silver.Felwood
Coordinates: Around 41, 20
Killing the satyrs in Jadefire Run will get you some runecloth and good silver.Eastern Plaguelands
Many good farming spots here. Target the Carrion grubs (found everywhere in EPL) which drop Larval Acid which you can usually sell for good money in the auction house. Also there are Mossflayer Zombies at around 28, 85. They are easy to kill, and drop lots of runecloth.
Gold Farming Guide: Additional Tips
Skinning will add greatly to your gold faming income, so pick up this profession if you think you’ll be doing a lot of gold farming. Some of the things you are targeting when doing gold farming are cloth, which sells well at auction, and high value item drops. Get the largest bags you can afford so you can carry a lot of stuff so you won't have to return to town often.
It goes without saying that gold farming is a lot more efficient if your character is optimized for AOE grind tactics, however, not all characters were built specifically for the purpose of gold farming, and for most characters the key requirement is to ensure high DPS coupled with minimal down time.
This is just a quick gold farming guide to give you ideas of where to farm. However, more serious farmers definitely should consider a complete gold farming guide like the highly acclaimed WOW Gold Secrets.
